Los Angeles High School of the Arts
At the Los Angeles High School of the Arts (LAHSA), students learn real-world skills necessary for success in life and the entertainment industry. Students are taught by professional actors, directors, dancers and singers, lighting, set, sound, and costume designers and technicians. Ranked in 2009 by Newsweek Magazine as one of the top 325 schools in the country, LAHSA is quickly emerging as a leader in educational innovation. La Opinion – the largest Spanish-language newspaper in the country – has recognized LAHSA in articles and videos. The school has the highest improvement rate on the California Standards Test, and the highest test scores in all of the seventeen small schools in the Belmont Zone of Choice. In addition, LAHSA was just recognized by the LAUSD Board of Education for its outstanding work with students. LAHSA students go on to attend some of the most prestigious universities in the country.
